The Investor Data Quality Program (IDQSM) is a shining example of how we have merged the worlds of risk assessment and shareholder services. In 2006, Keane pioneered the process of analyzing the entire investor data files to provide a detailed account-by-account analysis and to provide never-before available information about the hidden fraud, compliance, and cost risks with investor data.

Keane has now performed this analysis for over 350 corporations and more than 18 million records. The analysis will allows companies to take immediate action to restrict activity on accounts that introduce the risk of fraud and represent unnecessary cost. Further, the analysis allow our clients to benchmark data quality statistics against those of other issuers (of similar size, industry, transfer agent, etc.) and serve as a baseline against which clients can demonstrate measurable performance improvement and risk reduction to IR and Finance executives, as well as the Board.

Fraud Prevention

At-risk accounts emerge in many ways. forty-million people move to a new address each year, many improperly updating the registrations on their investment accounts. Nearly, 2.5 million people die each year, many leaving their estates and beneficiaries with no knowledge of their investments. Too often, these accounts remain on a firm’s books and records for years, inviting malfeasance and causing a drag on your operational budget. Keane eliminates these threats by verifying investor registrations, communicating with investors or beneficiaries, and establishing appropriate internal controls to maximize data quality.

Cost Reduction

Companies and investment firms spend millions of dollars each year in printing, mailing and other servicing costs on accounts that are old or outdated and should be closed. Keane’s programs help companies identify unnecessary spending and develop proactive programs to eliminate outdated accounts.
